End Client:Major Automotive Producer
Type of Project:Translation of car manuals
Source Language:English
Target Languages:Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Russian
Volume:PL, HU, CS – approx. 5 million words, RU – approx. 500,000 words
About the project:
The project started in July, 2004. We received Honda ESM (Electronic Service Manual) and the client requested a translation into 3 languages – PL, HU, CS. We received the text in SGM format (TagEditor) and delivered unclean ttx files. DTP was taken care of by our client. At the beginning of 2005, we received the Honda OM (Owner's Manual) into these three languages. This manual was in an RTF format. In May 2005, we received one ESM into Russian. The deadlines are usually quite tight (esp. with larger ESMs) and therefore we have up to 10 people per language working simultaneously on the project while utilizing the networking features of TRADOS.

About the Project:
The initial request received in March 2005. The translation part was done in approx. 3 weeks. After creating PDF samples (created from source EN PDF - no other format such as PM or FM was provided by the client), the client approved the quality of the samples and therefore DTP work began. The progress of DTP work was stopped in April 2005, for approx. one month. The reason for this break was that the client has assigned us different project (see below), which was very urgent and required immediate attention. After this second project was finished, the DTP work continued.
